Position: Underwriter
UNDERWRITER JOB DESCRIPTION

• Collect, review and analyze an applicant’s relevant history and records
• Obtain additional information about an applicant to determine coverage needs
• Determine the level of risk for insuring or lending
• Offer recommendations on whether or not to approve an application
• Evaluate insurance claims for accuracy and the coverage amount
• Communication skills, including speaking and writing
• Customer service skills
• Advanced knowledge of federal regulations and best practices of insurance
• Project management and organization skills
• Time management and prioritization skills
• Decision-making and critical thinking skills

Underwriting officer requirements:

• Degree in insurance and risk management ( essential)
• 2 years of experience as an Underwriter (essential).
• Analytical thinker with research proficiencies.
• Ability to use reasonable and sound judgment.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Thorough knowledge of databases and smart policy.
• Solid organizational skills and detail-oriented.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Deep knowledge of underwriting regulations.
• Ability to build positive relationships and partnerships with clients, insurers and key role-
• players.
