North Mara Gold Mine Limited is seeking to recruit two (02) Underground Maintenance Supervisors to join Underground Engineering Team. The successful candidates for this position will carry out assigned maintenance tasks within the guidelines of Company Standard Operating Procedures and Best Practice as well as other assigned tasks within the range of competencies. This is a permanent role. The role will report to Underground Mobile Fleet Superintendent.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure team member in the plant adhere to safety regulations and use the correct PPE.
• Report all Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) issues via an incident report.
• Perform task risk assessments (JHA, FLRA).
• Provide supervision for the underground mobile maintenance work force in the underground Engineering department.
• Carry out repairs and maintenance plans in a safe and productive work environment and administering company policies and procedures.
• Support Operational objectives by minimizing risks and maximizing value and focus on Safety, quality, and cost management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Coordinates all workshop and maintenance activities ensuring that all maintenance personnel are assigned specific tasks and responsibilities.
• Works closely with the Maintenance Planner to ensure maintenance plans are updated and executed accordingly.
• Coordinates weekly meetings with production to schedule equipment maintenance requirements.
• Delivers machine availability in accordance with company expectations.
• Ensures spare parts are sourced and maintained.
• Actively promotes continuous improvement through machine availability improvements and the elimination of waste.
• Provides leadership and mentoring to trades team to support a proactive culture.
• Develops team training plan to ensure workforce is adequately skilled to meet business needs.
• Undertakes employee performance management under direction of Underground policies and procedures.
• Administration of leave for trade.
• Completes quality checks and ensures that quality inspections/gauging are being completed as required.
• Monitors training records to ensure maintenance team adherence.
• Ensures that maintenance personnel are working in compliance with workplace safety and environmental requirements.
• Completes risk assessments for non-routine tasks as required to ensure safe operations.
• Ensures that the work health and safety requirements of this function are maintained in accordance with statutory legislation and company policies and procedures.
• Leads the investigation process for workplace incidents and injuries with maintenance personnel.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• A relevant trade qualification in mechanical or Technician Certificate from a recognized institution.
• A Mechanical Trade Certification is highly desired.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 5 years post apprenticeship experience working on underground mobile fleet.
• Minimum 5 years of Experience working on Sandvik and Caterpillar machines.
• Demonstrated competencies in the rebuild and servicing of underground mining mobile equipment’s.
• Well-developed oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with People of diverse cultures and levels.
• Provide supervision for the underground mobile maintenance work force in the underground maintenance department.
• Carry out repairs and maintenance plans in a safe and productive work environment and administering company policies and procedures
• Support Operational objectives by minimizing risks and maximizing value and focus on Safety, quality, and cost management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong Safety Background and ability to drive a Safe working environment and practices.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Computer skills – MS Excel, Access, Word, Outlook.
• Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment.
• Driving ability.
• Relevant trade or manufacturing qualifications.
• Material selection knowledge for tooling.
• Supervisory Experience.
• Leadership: Ability to engage, support, motivate, consult & direct.
• Organization: Able to organize and plan own and other’s activities.
