Job Description
CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The purpose of the role Is to maintain, manage and monitor the licensing and approvals processes for both exploration and mining.
ACCOUNTABILITIES & AUTHORITIES OF THE ROLE
The Tenement Manager has the following accountabilities and duty; as will be assigned by the GM Government Relations, Exploration Manager or Manager Once Removed (MoR):
Managing the tracking of licenses and ensuring 100% validity at all times.
Responsible for managing and ensuring 100% accuracy of license records.
Compile and submit requisite government reports.
Ongoing monitoring of expenditure on tenements, ensuring It meets JV and government requirements.
Responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate renewal and re-application of licenses.
Preparation of GIS maps and database for licensing as per the company’s Standard Operating Procedures.
Monitoring of grounds of Interest for application of license.
Assist with the ongoing Identification of ground owners.
Coordinate the provision of general GIS and mapping support.
Preparation of weekly and monthly tenement reports as per the Shanta Mining Company Limited standard.
Responsible for managing the payment of license fees.
To prepare and coordinate the annual license budget.
To manage relevant legislation and departmental processes.
Identlfy/monltor on quarterly basis the llcences/tenements which are In ‘Critical Periods’ l.e the licences which will be expiring (second renewal) in less than A) 12-months’ time and B) 24-month time and assist an Exploration Department with the strategy for these assets.
REQUIRED SKILLED KNOWLEDGE
Qualification
Relevant educational qualification from recognized Institution preferably Geology or Mine Engineering. Experience at least 3-5 years experience In tenement management.
Knowledge and Skills
Good communication skills, both verbal and written
Knowledge of Mining Act 2010 and Its regulations
GIS and database skills
Computer literacy, proficient user of the Microsoft Office Suite
