Job Description
SUPPORT SERVICE DIRECTOR
Save the Children has been working in Tanzania for more than 30 years. We are working with the government, local organizations and other international agencies to reduce child malnutrition, improve newborn and maternal health, support and strengthen early childhood development and primary education systems. We strengthen child protection systems for vulnerable children, promote children’s participation and contribution to policy and resource allocation for services which concern them, support, and respond to emergencies. We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated, and results oriented individual with strong technical skills and a commitment to the promotion of children’s rights to fill this position
Role purpose: As a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) in Tanzania, the Director of Support Service shares in the overall responsibility for the direction and coordination of the Country Office (CO). The Director Support Services in his/her capacity will be accountable to the Country Director for overseeing the support function – finance and also lead on legal issues/advice and litigation, and co-accountable with other senior leaders for risk management –in both development and emergency programming contexts. The Director Support Services is also responsible to provide overall direction and leadership for country office change management processes, especially in Finance and IT systems and processes as Save the Children upgrades it’s global technology platform.
Essential qualification: Bachelors or equivalent in relevant areas. Qualified finance professional preferred (CIMA, ACCA, and CPA). A minimum of 10 years of financial management experience in corporate or an International NGO environment, including experience in the development of strategic and operational support services plans and their implementation in a professional work environment. Experience in emergency/humanitarian programming/contexts will be value added. Minimum 3 years’ experience at a senior management level of a $15-20 million annual budget in a multi-sectoral national or international organization. Leadership skills, including the ability to supervise, motivate and further develop qualified professional staff with strong personal value systems. Strong business acumen, excellent understanding of business planning including strategic modelling and analytical skills. The ability to analyse complex data, design and produce effective management information for strategic decision-making. Ability to manage complex and diverse workload, to handle multiple priorities and to work to tight deadlines. Excellent understanding of accounting software particularly Agresso.
