Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

The core aim of this role is to manage and maintain the GGML non-plant infrastructure assets and facilities to its maximum capacity and efficiency under conditions of optimal safety. The role also focuses on providing cross-functional technical and management support to other sections on implementing mine site projects. The role also involves management of contractors and subcontractors to ensure maintenance projects are undertaken in-line with health, safety and environmental obligations, design specifications, quality, budget, and schedule.

 

 

            QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management/Infrastructure Management, or related field.
  • Registered by respective Board e.g. ERB, AQRB etc.
  • Project Management Certification e.g. PMP, Prince2, Agile is  an added advantage.
  • The incumbent must have a valid Tanzania driving license.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 2-3 years (combined) relevant experience in maintaining fixed plant and buildings in mining or capital projects.
  • Minimum of 3 years in managerial position.
  • 3 Years’ Experience in Asset Integrity Assessment and Management.
  • Experience on Risk Management in relation to Asset Integrity.
  • Clear understanding of statutory requirements as per Tanzania Laws and ISO Standards.
  • Solid understanding of ISO 14001:2015 & ISO 45001:2018, ISO 9000:2015

 MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

            Safety & Systems Management

  • Compliance and adherence to AGA Major Hazards and Risk Management Guidelines and Standards.
  • Developing and implementation of safety management systems, practices and standards   for the Infrastructure Department and ensure standards and major hazards critical control for Contractors and Department are maintained properly.
  • To lead and   conduct Incident Investigation Programs for both GGML and Contractors.
  • Undertake infrastructure asset reviews, coordinating, and undertaking risks mitigation plans as per IMIU, Combined Assurance and AuRisk audit corrective action plans.
  • Manage the Section HSE Policy, Compliance and Coach Subordinates on AGA Safety Management Standards.

            Budgeting, Cost Management and Continuous Improvement (CI)

  • Controlling spend against budgets and forecasts for Mechanical Maintenance Section.
  • Suggesting innovative solutions for optimization production costs. (Idea generation)
  • Observe and reduce any unnecessary expenditure that contributes to high variable costs.
  • Checking and verification compliance to projects including project audits and contractors invoicing process against the value of work done.
  • Ensure that operational excellence practices are adhered to e.g. visual boards, Kanban boards, projects Gantt charts.
  • Take a leading role in the identification and execution of improvement initiatives within the Infrastructure Mechanical Maintenance Section
  • Participate and adhere to problem-solving sessions and minimize the reoccurring breakdowns on mechanical infrastructure.
  • Adhere to all mechanical critical inspections as per the AGA Engineering best practice guidelines.

            Infrastructure Maintenance Capital & projects

  • Represent Infrastructure Department on Capital Projects on behalf of Infrastructure Manager and on Geita Standards Committee.
  • To manage Asset Integrity projects and SIB Capital Projects related to Mine Site Infrastructure Maintenance.
  • To set up and maintain Infrastructure Capital Management Process in liaison with GGML Capital Controller
  • Coordination and execution of Infrastructure Maintenance Projects
  • Management of new infrastructure capital projects, facility renovations/retrofits, process improvements, equipment installations, utility installations and modifications.
  • Manage maintenance project funds according to established accounting policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical advice to the management regarding design, construction, or program of works to ensure projects have Value for Money (VfM).
  • Conduct studies and Project Risk Analysis/Front- End Engineering Design for the projects to identify engineering problems and assess the potential impact of projects and operations.

            Infrastructure and Buildings Maintenance & Management

  • Develop, implement, and monitor the infrastructure maintenance strategy.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor a condition monitoring program.
  • Drive adherence to budget.
  • Identify underperforming equipment and investigate causes for underperformance.
  • Drive continues reliability improvement projects through defect elimination.
  • Identify areas that require renovation and implement plans to complete the required work.
  • Responsible for the quality management of the tasks performed by the section.
  • Check and verify Value of Work Done and all contractors’ certificates and invoices.
  • Place enquiries and initiate tenders for projects.
  • Ensure all tasks are done on time and to budget with agreed specifications.
  • To manage Work Management Planning Compliance and Ensure all PM and ad hoc works orders are managed by AGA Standards.
  • To maintain vehicles, equipments, tools and controls register to ensure security, reliability of tools / equipments are maintained on highest standards as per AGA Safety and Security Policies.

 

            Asset Integrity and Management

  • To ensure that all risks associated with the design and operation of the non-plant assets are identified and permanently maintained at an accepted level, in compliance with HSE and Integrity policy.
  • Monitor performance of the Asset Integrity management processes by organizing regular reviews, self-audits, and inspections on behalf of Infrastructure Manager to ensure adherence and compliance to asset management plans and strategies.
  • To prepare Asset Integrity documentation, supporting budgets, schedule and execution plans for all Infrastructure Asset Integrity Projects.
  • To set up and manage the infrastructure engineering document repository for drawings, blueprints and manuals.
  • To managed SAP Systems for all Infrastructure Assets.
  • Any other assignments provided and directed by Infrastructure Manager.

 

            Contract Management

  • Management and supervision of Civil & Buildings Works Contracts, Electromechanical Equipments Contract, Piping and  Pumps Contracts.
  • To oversee the contracts throughout their lifecycle and serving as the liaison between GGML and contractors.
  • Keeping and updating company policies and procedures with adherence AGA within a contract lifecycle management platform.
  • Conducting the contractor alignment meetings and performance reviews.
  • Management of the contractor’s operations including OHSE Systems.
  • Implementing QA and QC in management of service contractors.
  • Documenting improvement actions and tracking on Contractor’s Safety Management performance.
  • Preparing the contract close-out report.

  • Knowledge on utility mapping such as GIS/EPANET/Maptek Vulcan
