ABOUT GEITA GOLD MINING LTD

Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in Denver, USA. AGA has operations in more than ten countries across four continents. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 120 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. The company has its main office and operations in Geita, only 5 Km’s west of the fast-growing town of Geita, and a supporting office in Dar es Salaam. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To operate the processing plant and associated equipment safely, productively, and efficiently, maximizing performance while safeguarding the environment and the health and safety of personnel. Processing operators will engage in all aspects of mineral processing, including sampling and sample submission. It is essential that the incumbent works effectively in teams, with shift work as a requirement.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 
•    Ordinary level of secondary education or above.
•    Possession of Certificate or Diploma in Minerals Processing will be an added advantage.
•    Must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records.

 

EXPERIENCE:
•    At least 1 year of working experience in a processing plant, preferably in gold production.
•    Previous gold processing plant operational experience (crushing, milling, CIL and Elution) will be an added advantage.

 

MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
•    General Inspections of the area (Safety showers, gas monitors, reagents pumps, valves, chemical spills, reagents shade fence, pipelines, chemical storage tanks,   safety sign, and overhead crane.
•    Clean the strainers every week to ensure there is no blockages for reagent transferring.
•    Conduct the process of mixing reagents (Cyanide, Peroxide, Hydrochloric Acid and Lead nitrates) to maintain required level for gold production.
•    Ensuring sample taking to laboratories for PH and concentration test.
•    Disposing of cyanide boxes.
•    Charging activated carbon as per work package requirement.
•    Re bag chemicals where there is any chemical spillage.
•    Ensure the reagent storage areas are well maintained in orderly manner.
•    Fuel Transfer from main fuel station to the plant fuel station.
•    Hot working activities at lay down area (cutting steel drums by using cutting touch).
•    Monitor and control the level of emergence pond, make sure the level of the pond is at the minimum level to contain the overflow coming from the plant.
•    Fill the checklist/report books as required.
•    Compliance of personal protective equipment (PPE).
•    Attend the training as per nomination.
•    Comply with AGA reagents policies, procedures.
•    Comply with security procedure.
•    Keep your working place nit and tidy.
•    Operates, inspects, and monitors (regular sampling and measurement) as required .at your area
•    Identifying and diagnosing, where possible, items of the plant that require preventative maintenance or repair.
•    Clear blockages in materials-handling and transporting equipment.
•    Clean, wash and maintain plant, equipment, and auxiliary systems.
•    Monitor the operation of plant and equipment and ensure the safety of other workers.
•    Ensuring production activities achieve maximum effective use of the plant and equipment by continual monitoring.
•    Assisting in the development of competencies of other employees.
•    Immediately report equipment faults to prevent further deterioration.
•    Safely isolate processing equipment for planned or unplanned shutdowns.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
•    Good knowledge of computer applications.
•    Fluency in Swahili or English.
•    No security issues or Criminal record.
