Job Description


EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Kilimanjaro International Leather Industries Company Limited (KLICL) is established as a Joint Venture Company between PSSSF and Tanzania Prisons Service through its Company known as Prisons Corporation Sole. KLICL intends to hire qualified, energetic, dynamic, and proactive Tanzanians to fill one position of HEALTH, SAFETY, AND ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER    

 

REQUIRED ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

The Health, Safety and Environmental Officer will be a holder of Bachelor’s Degree in Biological/Environmental Sciences, Occupational Health, Safety Environmental health, and or relevant field with at least 3 years of working experience.

A National Occupational Health and Safety Certificate (NOSHC I and II) and related ISO Standard training certificate will be an added advantage.

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Carry out inspections of workplace and takes necessary actions to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct risk assessment of the workplace and enforce preventive measures
  • Monitor and assess hazardous and unsafe situations/conditions and advise on proper ways of mitigating the conditions
  • Create and review existing HSE policies and procedures and update accordingly as per rules, laws, and regulations;
  • Assist in the implementation of International Health, Safety and Environmental standards (ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018)
  • Initiate and organize Occupational Health and Safety training for all employees;
  • Ensure good housekeeping practices to maintain factories’ cleanliness and follow all safety and environmental regulations in order to ensure incident/accident-free workplace.
  • Assist in responding to and investigating concerns/complaints from employees and take appropriate actions.
  • Record and investigate accidents, incidents and near misses to determine causes and suggest mitigation measures.
  • Prepare accurate reports on all accidents/incidents and provide statistical information to management;
  • Coordinate workplace safety and health committees.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies in matters related to Health, Safety and Environment 13. Perform any other duties assigned to you by your supervisor;

  • Professional Certificates from foreign Universities or other training Institutions should be verified by the Tanzanian Commission for Universities (TCU) and the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET)
  • Certificates not certified and provisional statement of results will not be accepted
  • Applicants should indicate 3 work-related referees with their reliable contacts.
