The International Red Locust Control Organization for Central and Southern Africa (IRLCO-CSA) is an intergovernmental organization headquartered in Ndola, Zambia. The organization is tasked with the control of red locusts, armyworms, quelea birds, and other migratory pests, as well as conducting relevant research in its member states: Malawi, Mozambique, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

IRLCO-CSA is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the following position:

Position: Director
The Director is the Principal Executive Officer of IRLCO-CSA and will be responsible for ensuring the effective discharge of the organization’s functions.

Job Purpose:
To manage the control of Red Locusts and other migratory pest outbreaks in the Central and Southern African region, contributing to sustainable food security by preventing locust plagues and restricting their migration.

Main Duties:
Ensures correct interpretation and implementation of the Organization’s policies to fulfill its mandate.
Coordinates locust and pest control plans to maintain IRLCO-CSA operations effectively.
Prepares and submits annual work plans, budgets, and periodic progress reports.
Provides logistical and support services to the Governing Council, Executive Committee, and other committees.
Mobilizes resources for supporting the implementation of IRLCO-CSA work programs.
Liaises with Member States, stakeholders, and other parties to promote the operations of IRLCO-CSA.
Manages staff operations and the utilization of resources to meet the organization’s goals.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
This is Full-time Job, Professional Qualification: Pest Management with a bias in Entomology.
Relevant Job Experience: Minimum 10 years post-qualification research work in a related agricultural discipline, with at least 5 years at senior management level. Experience in locust control is an added advantage.
Age: Applicants must be between 45 and 53 years old.
Conditions of Service:
Contract Duration: 48 months, renewable only once.
Basic Salary: US $42,696 to US $59,220 per annum (on Organization’s scale R1).
Gratuity: 25% of total emoluments payable at the end of the contract.
Tax: Salary and gratuity are tax-free.
