Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in South Africa, with operations in more than ten countries, in four continents. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of North Western Tanzania, only about 85 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s South East of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE.

The core aim of the role is to operate batching plant associated infrastructure (CAF, Slurry, Shotcrete, Concrete) safely and efficiently to achieve the set targets. The role holder will form part of the shift crew of operators allocated to a specific area or section. The role holder is expected to perform assigned tasks accurately while promoting a safe and productive work environment as per company standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least certificate of Secondary School Education (CSEE)
• High level education will be added advantage
• Computer literacy

EXPERIENCE:

• Experience with CAF Plant or Process Plant Operation
• Ability to drive a manual transmission light vehicle will be an added advantage

MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Safety, Health and Environment

1. Monitor and maintain good housekeeping in the batching plants in line with standard guidelines for safety and environment
2. Attend and participate in crew meetings (toolbox) on a shift basis
3. Comply with all PPE requirements (including proper use of PPE)
4. Conduct task-based risk assessments on a continuous basis
5. Conduct safety and workplace inspections, including hazard identification, incident reporting
6. Ensure GGM safety standards, policies & procedures are adhered to all times.

• Operate the batching plant equipment to produce ready-mix products (CAF, slurry fill, shotcrete, concrete) to the correct specification whilst following the standard operating procedures including:
• Ensure all log sheets are completed correctly and on time and maintain communication with supervisor, control room operator and other fellow operators for shift handover
• Work in an honest and ethical manner and maintain confidentiality on all business-related matters

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience with the CAF Plant or Process Plant operation.
• Sufficient education to read and write instruction and keep record
• Ability to drive a manual transmission light vehicle.
• Problem solving and analytical skills
• Positive attitude toward work and colleagues.
• Be able to work at minimum supervision
• Ability to drive a manual transmission light vehicle will be an added advantage
