Job Description


Position Overview:
The Associate Girls’ Education Program (GEP) is a key role within the Room to Read, Gender Equality Portfolio supporting the strategic design, review, and continuous improvement of both the GEP signature and technical assistance models in alignment with the GEP Strategy 2025-2035. This position ensures the program remains relevant, impactful, and scalable across diverse contexts, focusing on the core components of Life Skills Education, Mentoring, Family and Community Engagement, Material Support, and Alumnae Activities.

Working closely with the Technical Officer, GEP, this role is responsible for contextualizing program materials to fit the country’s specific needs while ensuring they reflect best practices and cultural sensitivities. Incorporating stakeholder feedback is a crucial part of the role to enhance material effectiveness and program success. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Girls’ Education Program

Roles & Responsibilities:
Technical and Coordination support
Support the Senior Manager and Technical Officer, GEP in the contextualization of GEP Professional Development Materials through translation, review and proof reading of materials.
Works closely with the Senior Manager, Technical Officer, GEP to review and obtain government approval of Life Skills Education Teacher’s Training Manual, Mentoring Manual, Family and Community Engagement manual, FEI modules and other identified manual need based on allowing adoption with other partner organizations or system partners.
Oversee the implementation of all comments given at different stages by Government evaluators.
Contextualization of She Creates Change curriculum to prepare for the beginning of partners trainings and adoption and participate in the She Creates Change Video Distributions.
Contextualization of co-education Life Skills Education and revised girls education Life Skills Education materials and obtain government approval.
Work closely with Zanzibar Insititute of education and Zanzibar Swahili Council to contextualize Life Skills Education moduels and Life Skills Education teachers training manual for preparation of accelerating the use of our materials in Zanzibar and obtain government approval.
Coordinate the work plan in collaboration with Senior Manager and Technical Officer GEP, efficiently assigning tasks/work areas to ensure effective implementation of the GEP activities in areas of assignment.
Collaborate with the RM&E team to implement GEP research and evaluation work where needed.
Collaborate with Admin/Procurement team to source and procure the necessary GEP materials.
Employment opportunities
Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Reporting, Documentation
Prepare and share contextualization reports and recommendations with the supervisor for work progress and support needed.
Participate in the development of quarterly and annual reports on program activities for the Management and local government partners.
Work with Technical Officer GEP for documenting best practices, and lessons learned during the contextualization process through obtaining government approval and share with the Senior Manager GEP, as needed.
Participate in 1-on-1 Meetings with supervisor, midyear and annual review.
Participates in any other activities, which may be required to be undertaken to fulfil the objectives of the organization.
External Coordination, Advocacy and Networking
Work with Senior Manager and Technical Officer GEP to develop and review the Government engagement identified activities for Government adoption of Room to Read frameworks. This includes attending technical review workshops.
Liaises with other NGOs running similar programs to identify areas of knowledge sharing and possible collaboration in the field while consulting the Senior Manager and Technical Officer GEP.

Qualifications and Experience:

Required
University degree in a related field (Education, Sociology, Gender, Social Work, Community Development).
3 – 5 years of relevant work experience.
Prior experience in contextualization (adaptation, translations, design).
Prior experience working in a team.
Good interpersonal skills and a team player.
Strong organizational and planning skills.
Ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously and take initiative.
Prior success working closely and building relationships with diverse groups of people including the Government institutions and other NGOs in Tanzania.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
Fluency in the local language.
English fluency.
